Hi Fritz. Please save a board for me. I'm flying around the country on some residency interviews and may not be able to check your site as often as I would like to. I'll also need the add on board for the pulse arc welder. Your welder is awesome and the welds look very clean! I'll keep looking for more info on the frequency settings, but I haven't been able to find much besides what I've sent you. It'd be nice if there was a book on CD/pulse arc welders, but unfortunately I've found nothing.
I am glad I found your site. I have been looking for a good diy cd welder so I can make and rebuild some battery packs. I definitly want a set. Joey n.
I see the boards will come with a fully programmed processor but is it or anything else populated on the boards? I only ask for logistics and budget reasons. Thanks
Went to place my order and the store indicates out of stock already.... PLEASE tell me that you are waiting for the boards to arrive before allowing them for purchase....
Leonardo D. Hello, I have some questions. 1.- How much I need to expend to buy all components in the bill of materials, to complet the welder (at mouser.com or digikey, maybe) 2.- The pulse arc welder controller board will be available in the near future? 3.- If the pulse arc is available, will be as an adition to the capacitor discharge welder, or as a new build welder? Thanks for this proyect, and sorry for my bad english.
Ed F Hi Everyone Nice job on the welder Fritz! I have being looking to build a CD welder and want to know if you are planing to get more boards ordered
Mike, the components for the boards will be +- $80 per board. There are two boards. You also have to buy capacitors,a transformer, a case, copper etc. The complete welder will cost about $600 depending on how much money you spend on the capacitor and Case. I ran out of processors but I do have a couple of boards left
I have looked around on the blog (i am unfamiliar with blogs TBH). I really would like to build a welder to refurbish my cordless batteries. Looks like a great project. I can not how ever find where the parts list is and also where to buy the boards, processors, etc.
Sean, you have to read this blog from the bottom up. You can click,on the right of this page, BLOG ARCHIVE on "2009" and then read from the bottom up and do the same with "2010" and "2011"
I am working on a package that will have the Gerber files, manual and the hex code for the processor in. You can then make your own boards and program your own processor. Email me at sprbok@gmail.com...I might have a set or two of boards left
Will you be getting more pc boards. I would be interested in a set. Also will you be posting the new firmware or will that only be available in a programmed PIC? How much is a set of boards (assuming that you are going to get more)?
Southerner, If I can get enough people interested, I might get more boards. I offered my last set of boards that I wanted to keep for myself to A team from University of Wisconsin Madison. If they dont want it, its yours. You can contact me at sprbok@gmail.com
I'm interested on at least two boards and/or complete kit (your parts, I undterstand about the caps and case, etc.). Possibly more. Count me in. BTW, I have purchased large lots of MOSFETS in China and the price is about 1/5 of what I was paying at Mouser, Digikey, etc. This could be a group buy.
Have you considered a group buy where people commit to the purchase and fund ~50% up front? We might get enough people to drive the price down and reduce your financial outlay too. This worked well with the OpenDRO at http://www.shumatech.com/ a year ago. The original order was some 400 boards at ~$160 each with all SMT parts installed.
I'm sure Scott would be willing to share his assembly vendor and I'd be happy to chip in where I could to make this easier.
How do you stand today on the number of interested for PCB's? I am open to commit for a set if an order is about to be filled. If here is nothing on the table, any reccomendations on who to submit to?
